  • A Scalable Decision Economy

    Rated 0 out of 5

    from:

    Ideascale link

    Problem statement :

Cardano’s success is directly connected to the effectiveness of our governance. We need to holistically architect and scale governance.

Describe your solution to the problem

Instead of building an economy around consumption, lets build an economy that rewards debiasing and generating effective governance policy.

    Relevant experience

PM / Systems Engineer with background in business analysis, optimisation, coordination/control systems and data driven governance.

    Website/GitHub repository (not required) https://miro.com/app/board/o9J_lTV0byI=/
Detailed plan (not required) – Fill in here any additional details

    Current State:

Natural collectives rarely allow a single individual or elite group to make decisions for the group. This is because these leadership structures are prone to compromise.

Currently our economy and governance demonstrate such compromise: they implicitly support targets of conspicuous consumption, attention commodification and resource exploitation. This in-turn generates systemic inequalities and problems such as climate change, misinformation and planned obsolescence, to name a few.

In our current state the inequality is “baked-in” to our very economy making it inexplicably difficult to remove in all but a superficial sense.

In addition the current state of the Cardano governance system is adhoc and fragmented (as is to be expected given its recency) we can now take steps to design a holistic flow that utilises the outcomes generated by these system.

    – Project Catalyst -> Generation of Proposal

    – IOHK/CH/Catalyst videos -> Generation of Vision

    – Cardano Governance Forums -> Unstructured Discussions

    Why:

We’ve seen multiple projects at distributed autonomous fail including the DAO, Bitcoin Cash and the current state of token ecosystem.

Its important here to realise Cardano Governance IS Cardano. There’s a volume of ideas, limited resources, time and attention. Further scaling the current model is going to be impossible as we experience exponential growth.

Further, while this system or end-state is not in place, the community (and currency) is vulnerable to attack through social engineering means.

    Future State:

This proposal is for the development of a reference design that incorporates all the current components and feedback to date from the above sources and proposes a single, unified governance workflow with the elements of above. Its our view that the design form a base for the constructive coagulation of many community ideas.

    How:

Within modern cryptonomics the “work” required to verify transactions and generate blocks is incentivised by a token reward within the ecosystem. The circular nature of this principle is a central sustaining component both to a networks operation and integrity.

Similarly, we propose a reference design for an economy centred around effective governance. We incentivise community participation, curation and debiasing (“verification”) of effective projects and policy as the implicit “workload” of the economy.

To ensure that these outcomes are not generated in a mono-culture of thought, or promoted through other maligned incentives (such as bias, tweedism, nepotism) we propose a cohesive, scalable crowd-sourced policy generation platform.

Our reference design will include multiple approaches to ensure that maligned / compromised actors do not generate policy counter to multiple community goals and aspirations, even in cases where these community objectives may conflict.

    More Detail:

To this end, we aggregate various design suggestions proposed into a single cohesive collective intelligence workflow including multiple debiasing components. This proposal only includes scope for the construction of a reference design only.

    These components include:

    – A opt-in values and principles alignment system.

    – A system of working groups centred around communities of interest that can represent minority or unrecognised groups. (similar to that proposed by @jeffghome2020)

    – A system to promote awareness, emotion and empathy through conversational design (similar to that proposed by @nielskijf) that could also reduce platform overheads like internationalisation and on-boarding.

    – A system to develop deep insight sharing and drive informed voting inlcuding a place for creative arts and persuasive communication as well as data driven analysis on the basis of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

    – A system of collective strategy generation and prioritisation with the added benefit of inter-group coordination when strategies align.

    – A federated debate system that provides timely and tangible policy outcomes (similar to that proposed by @calliefionaburrito)

    – A process to responsively and scalably curate, moderate and debias policy

    – A process for reward sharing with the community to increase engagement and efficiency of the system.

    Technology:

We aim to platform the above workflow on the Cardano stack to leverage recent technical achievements:

    – Integration into Voltaire based voting

    – A policy / project generation system integrated with the existing Cardano Treasury model.

    – An integrated rewards structure (introducing Proposals NFTs, a Network Trust token and a Prediction Market for sentiment) to promote contribution, reward engagement and accurate analysis.

    – A approach to generating data-driven policy justification integrating smart contracts and oracles.

    Deliverable:

The key deliverable of this project will be a community developed reference design and materials to communicate this design that incorporates the learnings of the past, a number of diverse viewpoints against which community comments can be accepted in future rounds. This forms the training wheels for collective governance.

    Funds:

The nominal requested funds are to support curators in the structuring of reference material and ideas into a single cohesive reference design compatible with Voltaire governance. We are confident all community contributions to date (20210301) will be incorporated. Where its not possible to incorporate these ideas, we will frame further questions to the community for discussion.

    Summary:

We believe the key to Cardano’s long term success is the effective generation and selection of targets, policy and projects.

To be able to generate consensus, we need to unite in objective truth.

To this extent we need to focus on creating a reference design for our end state that incorporates community suggestions to date and creates a frame for further discussion and contribution. This by no means will be a complete solution, rather a projection of today’s community view of the network’s governance architecture.

Debaising our decisions so that we can target goals in line with our values and principles is of utmost importance to the community. We believe consequences of this experiment in governance becoming another agent to preserve the status quo in our society would be a worst case outcome to both the organisation and the spirit of the organisation.

Cardano is founded on equity for all. In this process we need to design to ensure the effects of individual human bias are minimised while leveraging crowd-sourced information processing and remaining responsive to our members needs. These requirements are critical to the security of the governance, generation of effective policy and preservation of our humanity.

  • ADA in CIS exchangers/online stores

    Rated 0 out of 5

    from:

    Ideascale link

    Problem statement :

Every user that spends $1000 on cryptocurrency purchases lost about $15-35 as a stock exchange commission https://imgur.com/a/Lk7oHga

Describe your solution to the problem

We need to convince each exchanger and online store to use ADA on their site. It’ll allow to SAVE $15-30 for every $1000 spent.

    Relevant experience

I had experience working in a call center of the bank (consultations, sales, and advertising of new products), so I can handle this task.

Detailed plan (not required) – Fill in here any additional details

The ADA purchase on exchangers should be affordable in CIS countries. Currently, every user that spends $1000 on cryptocurrency purchases lost about $15-35 as a stock exchange commission [ https://imgur.com/a/Lk7oHga ]. Using exchanges can help you to SAVE $15-30 for every $1000 spent [ https://imgur.com/nvM0IqJ ]. Also, despite the large commission, there are many different online stores that accept payment in bitcoins and ETH, but there is no way to pay for goods using ADA e.g. digit.com.ua.

    Why is it relevant:
About 236 million people live in the CIS countries [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_of_Independent_States]. And those who use prevalent cryptocurrencies (bitcoin, etherium, Litecoin, Monero, etc) may not even know about the presence of ADA. Everyone who uses cryptocurrency in one way or another uses exchangers.
If there is an opportunity to purchase ADA in exchangers, it will be a good advertisement for those who did not know about it. But it will also be beneficial for existing users because they can save up to $30 for every $1000 spent ( https://imgur.com/a/PfUNk0D ). Therefore, potentially for the same amount of money, there will be an opportunity to purchase more ADA coins.

    Why is it important:
At the moment, there are about 100 altcoin exchangers in the Russian-speaking segment, where you can buy TRON, Stellar, ZCash, DogeCoin, Ripple, and others, but they do not have ADA. For example, https://365cash.co/ https://papa-change.com/ https://cashbank.pro/
The total coverage of exchangers is about 400-500 thousand views every day, about 13-14 million per month [ https://imgur.com/lF2YZpi or you can check here https://pr-cy.ru/site-statistics/?domain=bestchange.ru ]. These are people who buy / sell cryptocurrency and they will all be potential users of the ADA community. Now imagine that even 5% of those users will buy ADA for $1000. It will save them millions of dollars. And vice versa, it will be actual when the user wants to sell cryptocurrency.
Adding ADA to exchangers is relevant not only now, but also in the future when new people will connect to the Cardano system.
There are also stores that accept bitcoin as payment. For example, https://digit.com.ua/ https://asictrade.com/ . It would be great if people knew that it is possible to use an alternative cryptocurrency with a much lower commission.

Plan, how can we solve this problem:

    1. Need to find all currently available Russian-language exchangers and online stores that accept cryptocurrency as payment. Make a list. It will take about 1.5-2 weeks. Because I will need to research sites for all CIS countries.
    2. Contact the representative office of each site (by phone or by mail) and tell about the advantages of ADA coins over others, convince them to use ADA on their site. This stage will take about 1.5 – 2 months. It’s a high-level estimate because at first, I need the list of the sites.
Every week (or few days if needed) I’ll share my progress with the list of the sites that agree to add ADA to their site. It’s not an instant task for those sites. So, they will need some time to implement the new feature.
For the success of my project, there will be enough agreement on their side that they will add ADA.

    Key indicators to measure:

    • List of sites where you can use ADA as a payment
    • List of exchangers that add ADA to their site.

Cardano needs to generate more interest in the community. We need more investment and interest in the company and it’s future aspirations.

Describe your solution to the problem

While this may seem like a throwaway goal, it’s been proven as a strong psychological hook. We LOVE to collect. Cards can be meaningful.

Instead of only animals or creatures, or other other fictional entities with little-inspirational value, I’m thinking cards that depict principles, goals, values, influencers, universally agreed upon moral precepts, hopes/aspirations – or combining such inspirational quotes/images with a second layer (art) to determine rarity, gold, silver, wood, black/white, etc…that second later can feature animals, creatures, objects, etc. Whatever is decided to be the thematic visual design of the collection would work fine; which is up for further discussion.

Detailed plan (not required) – Fill in here any additional details

AdaStat is the Cardano blockchain explorer developed at the beginning of the Incentivized Testnet launch as an independent alternative to the existing IOHK explorer. A distinctive feature of AdaStat is the ability not only to find blocks, transactions, pools, addresses, accounts, epochs, slots, but also the ability to follow the full history of pools and accounts: active epochs, created blocks, delegations, awards and much more. All this gives for ada holders the opportunity to maximize their profits by choosing the best pool for delegation, and for pool operators – the opportunity to analyze their own and other pools data and build the right pool strategy. In addition to the web version we offer a completely free API points for using our data on other sites. There is also a telegram bot that can notify subscribers about rewards, created blocks, changes in pool parameters, and other important things for operators and ada holders. In the nearest future we are going to add support for native tokens, smart contracts, etc. Also, based on the feedback received from our users, we are going to update the site template to make it more convenient for both the desktop and mobile versions (please see attached)

    This is an experiment.

An experiment to form small agile teams that will iteratively develop by proposing each funding round some deliverable they will do during that round. You can think of it as a 6 week scrum sprint and the community is the PO/stakeholder and the proposal is the sprint planning.

The idea is to start small and grow naturally, as the team gets more cohesive over time. At some point the team might become a full time powerhouse working on bigger projects, or split up into several independent teams who collaborate on a shared roadmap.

But for now we will start small as there is no point in planning what could very well end up happening naturally.

If you are interested in joining this experiment, let me know :)

A more visual version of this proposal is being worked on here: https://miro.com/app/board/o9J_lSXQ4h4=/

    Details (draft)
The goal is to form a small self-organising multi-disciplinary team of individuals following Agile principles. The team will deliver in a 6 week cycle matching the Catalyst fund rounds. The team cycle starts 1 week ahead of the fund cycle. The team will partake in sharing insights and create a proposal with a scope of ~4 weeks. While the proposal is revised and finalized the team works on the deliverables. These should be released in time before voting, so the voters know exactly what they are voting for. Members also are not burdened by having to make heavy commitments to each other.

The initial roadmap of this team is to provide open (source) documentation and developer support, starting with the use of transaction metadata. In addition the team will aim to make it’s process transparent and to provide support for others who want to do something similar.

(The idea behind also working on technical documentation is so that the team itself is actual functional example of a team adding small bits a of value iteratively)

    Initial deliverable:
    Documentation on Transaction metadata

    • conceptual
    • coding examples
    • functional examples

    Team forming support

Brief description of the envisioned team:
    3-6 members
First 3-4 members form a multi-disciplinary core, preferably with experience working in a self-organising team. 5 & 6 would be added slowly adding more inexperienced members. All members agree on new members.

    Looking for*:*
To start, the team could really use someone to own the story of the team and someone to help dive into the technical details of Cardano and creating dapps

The team would seek to agree on an intention of effort, for example 8-12h per week. To keep things simple we will trust the intent and distribute rewards equally. This allotment could be increased by the team over time as they start to form a stronger bond.

I will add more information on signing up, the proposed framework, the team policy and a draft of the documentation on metadata in the following days.

    ARMing Cardano

    Problem statement :

How can we scale up a community of low-cost, energy-efficient stake pool operations that will help promote Cardano and decentralization?

Describe your solution to the problem

Creating tutorials and documentation for single-board, 64-bit ARM computers like the Raspberry Pi to be used in Stake Pool Operations.

    Relevant experience

Developer, Stake Pool Operator, Entrepreneur, ADA HODLR.

Detailed plan (not required) – Fill in here any additional details

Using current social platforms like Telegram, many different, verified SPO ARM builds are shared. We’d like to gather these build instructions, review them with the ARM community and decide on the most popular builds with the most community support to start creating our documentation hub.

We’d like to build a community portal to host various links to suggested hardware, software packages, Github repositories, Stack Overflow answers, YouTube video tutorials on networking, IT infrastructure, security, power management, solar power and many other ideas.

Our goal is to help the Raspberry Pi community of stake pool operators around the world grow and flourish. We feel by leveraging the low power and cost requirements of the Raspberry Pi along with a massive community of developers, we can influence a much larger demographic of people worldwide who would be willing to introduce Cardano nodes in remote areas of the world further enhancing the goal of Cardano decentralization.

Finally we’ll partner with the official Cardano community to include our work on major Cardano platforms like cardano.org so we can ensure we are getting the most exposure possible.

The Raspberry Pi community is about teaching people the power of technology and open-source software by providing small, resource efficient, affordable hardware to help them develop their skills. With such a low barrier to entry, we can empower people with little to no technology background up to understanding and running a mainnet stake pool on a very tight budget.

    Problem statement :

Creators of creative content are not properly paid royalties: there are no means of verifiably tracking royalty payouts.

Describe your solution to the problem

A media blockchain that is pay per play, and pays royalties direct to the authors/owners of the content, or as appropriated by media type.

    Relevant experience

15+ years in the audio industry, struggling to monetize assets.

Educated in Music Business and Audio Engineering

    2+ years on ETH contracts

Detailed plan (not required) – Fill in here any additional details

Creative content is published to IPFS. The resulting hash is tokenized in Non-fungible asset to determine copyright ownership and media type. Any royalty splits will be determined by media type, consisting of Original Content, Mechanical Licensed Work, and OtherOriginal Content has royalties paid to author, as it is original, and authored by a single entity. Mechanical licensed work, for example a song that is a cover of an original piece, will pay 10% to the original author, and the remaining 90% to the publisher/creator of the derivative work (within mechanical licensing criteria). Other media will be completely configurable via smart contract and is used when ownership criteria is outside of the first two categories.
System is pay-per-play, as well as purchasable content, and authors will be responsible for electing a node to host their files or can opt for self hosting, as the assets are not on chain, but rather stored via IPFS. Standard users will have means of earning funds to use protocol via curation; these users can become a node for specific assets they choose, and will be awarded a “finders fee” to incentivize the IPFS node, without having any access to the asset directly.
A governance layer is required for validating content into its media type. Validation will require x number of votes to be published by Validators, who will stake funds and be slashed for malicious behavior. All users of the protocol will be able to vote on protocol changes and will vote to resolve conflicts of ownership claims should they arise.
The protocol is completely decentralized and takes from already established protocols like IPFS and Non-fungible Tokens. Funding is required to fund developers, as once launched, there will be no profitable entity for these devs to earn from aside from using the protocol as a content creator or standard user. Funds will enter a contract that will release funds to devs upon launch of the service.

Describe your solution to the problem

    Relevant experience

Contributed extensive research to California Reinvestment coalition on this topic (see “The Financial Divide”). Attorney licensed in CA/WA.

Detailed plan (not required) – Fill in here any additional details

According to my research, based off write-offs related to bad checks on public SEC filings, only around 0.25% of checks are written off by major check-cashing/payday-lending firms. The average charge is about 3% for government or payroll checks and 6% for personal or related checks, including high fees for cashier’s checks, money orders and other safe modes of transfer. By establishing a local Cardano center, we can help save these people money and bring more users to Cardano.

If given a stake by the Cardano foundation the center can be self-sustainable by using the rewards from the initial stake to cover any losses on the small amount of checks that may be fraudulent or NSF. Losses will be mitigated by only accepting low-risk financial products such as cashier’s checks, money orders, payroll checks and government checks.

The primary mission is to eliminate the fees associated with these low risk transactions, but eventually the local centers could also work with clients or partners to provide crypto-based debit card solutions and alternatives to payday lending.

Not only would we be helping people directly, we would also be raising awareness of Cardano, bringing on new users and perhaps even encouraging local merchants to accept ADA as payment.

Initially, will partner with local non-profits focused on providing services to the underbanked, research legal implications and requirements to launch project in Seattle, Washington, find additional collaborators, and locate banking partner to process check transactions.

    Problem statement :

There is no place in Europe where developers, entrepreneurs and other community members can meet to learn and work on Cardano projects.

Describe your solution to the problem

We want to develop a Cardano Center with coworking space and activities (meetups, demos, brainstorms, workshops and training) in Amsterdam.

    Relevant experience

13 years experience in marketing for tech companies

Experience in blockchain, education and community building (host Cardano Podcast)

Detailed plan (not required) – Fill in here any additional details

The good think is that we don’t need to start from scratch. We can look at what Lisk has done (I know the team that runs their center in Utrecht), learn and replicate what works.

This would be the monthly breakdown of the costs of running the center:

    1. Location: USD $700 /month (coworking space for a small group + ability to host events there)

    2. Marketing: USD $250 /month

    3. Location manager: USD $1000 /month

So, for 1 year of operation we would need USD $31800

Check the Lisk Center to get an idea of how the Cardano Center in EUcould look like : https://www.liskcenter.io/

    Why is it important?

It would mean global access to the new financial system that is out of reach of any governing body and a first in the crypto industry

    How does success look like?

Launching and deploying several satellites from a Space X rocket.

    Key Metrics to measure

Once Launched, global access to our community and network.

    Challenge brief

Contact space X and microsatellite manufactuers.

    Communications experts. Prepare a plan

    Fund and deploy.
