Challenge question :

Which events that occur in the next year should Project Catalyst sponsor?

Why is it important?

Project Catalyst could grow the Cardano community while supporting the goal of events by allocating funding to event sponsorship.

How does success look like?

The Event Challenge perpetually grows the Cardano Ecosystem while supporting the goals of a diverse group of funded events.

Key Metrics to measure

I am not an event expert, but I imagine post event report(s) could be submitted that utilize standard event success KPIs along with KPIs that are unique to Project Catalyst. Event success KPIs would vary for each event. Specific post event reports could be deemed sufficient if the event is funded and the report requirements are defined in the proposal. I mention report(s) since separate reports could be submitted over various periods of time to measure the short and long term impact of an event. This would help Project Catalyst make better funding decisions in the future.

Growth of the Cardano Community could be tracked through bitly links and other marketing KPIs. Marketing and event maestros please help!

A few examples below of possibilities:

Here are some possibilities for conference event report(s) KPIs:

Event Check-ins, Net Promoter Score (NPS), Number of Active Community Members, Number of Messages Sent within the Event Community, Speaker Engagement, Live Polling Response Rate, Social Media Mentions, Social Media Engagement, Total Registrations, Registration by Ticket Type, Gross Revenue, Cost to Revenue Ratio, Revenue by Promo Code, Sponsorship Page Engagement, Sponsorship Satisfaction, Sponsorship Revenue, Number of Returning Attendees, Number of Qualified Sales Leads, Pipeline Generated, Accounts Influenced (ABM), Customers Acquired, Cost per Customer Acquisition

Challenge brief

Project Catalyst could quickly and perpetually grow the Cardano ecosystem and effectively measure its return on intent by sponsoring well conceived events.

People and ideas are essential to building the foundation of any community and events are a great way to bring them together. Community building and engagement is a top priority for cardano in 2021 and beyond. 2020 was a terrible year for gatherings, but in 2021 that script may be flipped as the economies of the world (hopefully) begin to reopen. Project Catalyst could introduce Cardano to a large number of new community members and perpetually grow the Cardano ecosystem by allocating funding to event sponsorship.

Additional context for this challenge:

Goal: Increase the number and types of participants in the Cardano Ecosystem and Project Catalyst so the world’s next financial operating system can be created.

Goal: To make the events successful.

Some means by which funding events accomplishes these goals (in no particular order):

– Project Catalyst creates a simple and impactful way to build a flexible, diverse, and visible brand through association by funding events.

– Events receive funding and expertise from Project Catalyst community members.

– Events introduce individuals to Cardano by associating Cardano with something that is already a part of their identity, making it easier for them to adopt. Types of events could include events for charity fundraising, competitions (sports, gaming, hackathons), conferences, award ceremonies, and really anything else people can conceive that is approved by the Project Catalyst community.

– Events organically introduce new people to the community through conversation. Think seeing “Sponsored by Project Catalyst” at a charity 5k and attendees asking other attendees “What is Project Catalyst?”

– Events already have return on intention metrics and unique blockchain adoption KPIs could be added to proposals to better measure impact. For example did attendees use a blockchain ticketing system to gain entry?

– Events may provide a runway for other proposals in other challenges to gain traction while simultaneously supporting the growth of existing projects by providing new potential use cases. One example could be crypto loan projects like Celsius since funded projects may want to receive a loan to turn ADA into fiat to pay for expenses without liquidating their ADA. The joint interview Charles and Alex recently participated in that was hosted by Crypto Crow was a great one to watch, I highly recommend it.

– Events provide a means to engage specific communities in specific ways. This is driven by the nature of events (they happen at a specific time and place with a specific goal). This can allow Project Catalyst to target specific communities where Cardano is lacking adoption.

– Events allow non-technical community members to contribute in a meaningful way as event planning and execution require the expertise of a diverse community to execute effectively.

– Events create runways and sandboxes for strategic partnerships through brand exposure and individual interactions.

I think the above is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the ways event funding could be impactful but I wanted to get this posted so we could start collaborating through the comment sections. I am very green to the crypto space so I encourage feedback and thanks for reading if you got this far!
